FEAR
For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind 2 Timothy 1:7
For weeks now, or should I say months, I have recited this verse in my head daily. Why? Honestly, I am afraid of what God has told me to pursue. Being a stay-at-home mom, I am constantly busy with my girls, and so I tend to use that as an excuse to keep me from writing. In reality, my fear of failure is the real roadblock, and the responsibilities of the day are merely a scapegoat. So, what do I do when fear gets in the way? I recite 2 Timothy chapter 1 verse 7, for God has not given me the spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and a sound mind.
Reciting this verse has taught me that God‘s word has power, meaning, purpose, and truth. God's words are commandments spoken without hesitation, commandments that demand obedience. Reciting this verse daily reminds me that doubt and fear do not come from God because God has no fear. God doesn’t move or live in fear. So, how could I or why should I operate in fear? Fear is from the enemy. Fear deteriorates our capabilities by convincing us to remain in our complacency.
Fear will always hold you back because fear is contrary to faith. When we walk in faith rather than fear, we don't have to hold on to our doubts, weariness, or anxieties. God will prepare us for whatever He calls us to do as long as we keep our faith in Him and keep fear in check. Becasue even when we are fearful, God is there to remind us that He will never leave us nor forsake, and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
